Diesel increased $214.9 per litre in six weeks: how to recalculate what it costs each delivery

Three elevations since the end of July, according to the weekly reports of ENAP. What do they mean for a business that you share and how to take them to the price without guessing.

Soon.

  • ENAP reported $28.5, $97.4, and $89.0 per litre of diesel in the weeks of July 30, August 20 and September 10, 2026.
  • The gas stations increased $102.7 per litre in the same period; the vehicle LPG decreased $22.9.
  • With a consumption of 10 litres every 100 km, the diesel rise amounts to about $21.5 per kilometre.

On Wednesday, September 9, ENAP published its weekly price report: diesel is up $89 per litre from Thursday, 10. It is the third increase in six weeks, and the sum is already up to $200. For a business that deals with a truck of its own, that changes the cost of each dispatch that it listed a month ago.

The three elevations, week per week

These are the variations that ENAP reported in each week with changes. In the mid-weeks the report marked zero for all fuels.

Why the supply may not match

ENAP clarifies in each report that it does not fix the final price: it publishes an estimated variation that considers the import price from the Gulf Coast of the United States, the cost of bringing the fuel to Chile and the rules of the Mepco and the EFP, the stabilization mechanisms. Each distributor sets its sales price, so in your service the figure can vary some pesos.

The context comes from March. On March 23, the Government used the Mepco's power to bring the local price closer to the international price, and that adjustment meant $370 per litre increases in petrol of 93 and $580 in diesel since March 26, according to Cooperativa.

It's not just the fuel.

The INE Transport Costs Index, which follows what the road freight companies spend, increased 0.7% in August and accumulates 8.7% in 2026. In August, the largest contribution of human resources wine (1.1%), followed by fuels (1.0%).

«These continuous increases are leaving small businesses in the sector out of the market, which have no box to face the stage.»

Pedro Araya, President of the National Confederation of Trucks Owners, to La Nación, September 10, 2026

How much is per kilometer

The account is direct: the increase per kilometre is the increase per litre multiplied by the litres your vehicle spends in one kilometre. If you spend 10 litres per 100 km, it spends 0.1 litres per kilometre, and $214.9 × 0.1 is $21.5 more per kilometre than in July.

The table uses round consumption as an example. The only data that serves is that of your vehicle, measured as explained below.

ConsumptionLitres per kmHeight per kmAlza on a route of 80 km
8 L / 100 km0,08$17,2$1.375
10 L / 100 km0,10$21,5$1.719
12 L / 100 km0,12$25,8$2.063
Example: $214.9 per litre increase applied to different consumption.

What to do this week

  1. 1It measures the actual consumption: it fills the pond, notes the odometer and, in the next full load, divides the litres charged for the kilometres travelled. Repeat it three times.
  2. 2It separates the fuel from the price of the dispatch, as a line of its own, so that it can be adjusted without renegotiating everything.
  3. 3Check the kilometers that do not generate sale: turns in poorly written directions, empty returns, wait with the engine on.
  4. 4If you have recurring customers, tell the adjustment with the data in your hand: the variation of ENAP is public and can be shown.
  5. 5It notes on the Wednesday calendar: ENAP publishes its report that day and the change has been in place since Thursday.
