Public data

Open mobility data without anyone being recognized.

Before opening the mobility data of your fleet, an institution has to answer a question: can you recognize anyone? Drometra adds, anonizes and controls who sees each level of detail.

Illustrative scene of public data created for Drometra.

Three problems we know by memory

May your institution share what moves your fleet with other distributions, researchers or citizens, and may no file allow a driver, patient or neighbor to be recognized.

We get the names, but you still know who he is.

The spreadsheet has no patents, but it shows a single daily trip to a rural estate at 6: 00 in the morning.

Drometra adds by area and period, and requires a minimum of vehicles and trips per cell before export. Cells that do not reach the minimum are joined or hidden, and the file file says so.

What we left set up
We set with you the area size, period and minimum per cell for each type of publication, and we test it with your actual data.
What you got next
A publicable file in which no row corresponds to a recognizable person.

The whole team sees the full routes, although it only needs the summary

The analyst who makes the monthly report has the same access as the fleet leader: the point-by-point tours of each driver, of the last two years.

Drometra's permissions go by role, base and type of data. The analyst sees only the added layer, the fleet head the routes of his base, and each consultation is noted with who, when and what.

What we left set up
We make with you the role map: who needs the tour, who the aggregate and who only the published indicator.
What you got next
Each person with the level of detail your work requires and a history of access ready to audit.

We publish a figure, we correct it, and now there are two

One half quotes the number of March trips. A month later the file was corrected by a GPS that reported badly, and no one knows what the current one is.

Each post that comes out of Drometra has a version, date and change note. A correction generates a new version and the previous one is still available, marked as replaced.

What we left set up
We define the publication schedule, who approves each version and where the corrections are announced.
What you got next
Publications with version and note of changes that anyone can quote without being confused.

Before uploading the file to the open data portal

The data team of a regional government wants to publish the travel of its rural health fleet by commune and month. Before uploading it, Drometra marks two communes with one vehicle: anyone would recognize the driver. They are grouped with the neighbor and the file comes out.

  1. Three levels of access

Drometra separates the operational data, the partner added data and the public, each with its own permissions.

  2. Add and Anonize

Before leaving, patents and names are removed, grouped by area and period and small cells are hidden.

  3. Publish with tab

Each file comes out with its period, its method of aggregation and its version, by Data Connector or API.

The rural posta that appeared alone on the map

  1. What happens

A health service prepares a file with the travel of its vehicles by commune and week for a university study. In a town hall there is only one vehicle and one driver.

  2. What the team does

When exporting, the minimum rule per cell marks that commune. The team group it with the neighbouring commune for that file, and the file explains the grouping.

  3. How it ends

The university receives useful data for its analysis and no one can reconstruct the driver's day. Their access is limited to the added file and is due to close the study.

Questions you'll be able to answer

Every answer comes out of what your team already records at work. No one has to set up a spreadsheet for that.

Who saw individual tours this month?

Consultations to the detail layer, with person, role, date and vehicle consulted, taken from the console access history.

You remove permissions that no one uses and you can explain every access if someone asks.

How much detail do we give to protect people?

Hidden or fused cells compared to the total number of cells in each publication, by area size and period.

You choose the grid and the period they publish most without lowering the minimum of protection.

What version of each data is published today?

List of publications with their current version, date, address and change note.

You answer to the press or an investigator with the right number and date.

Your first weeks with Drometra

  1. Day 1: We would invent what fleet data exist, who uses them today and for what purpose.
  2. Week 1: We set up the three levels of access, detail, added and public, and we assign the roles.
  3. Week 2: we set areas, periods and minimums per cell, and we test a real file with your legal team.
  4. Month 1: the first publication with a tab and version by the Data Connector, with its defined calendar, comes out.
